{"id":214,"date":"2008-04-20T12:05:50","date_gmt":"2008-04-20T20:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/infmom.net\/journal\/blowing-off-steam\/collection-agencies-can-bite-my-butt\/"},"modified":"2017-08-13T09:59:12","modified_gmt":"2017-08-13T16:59:12","slug":"collection-agencies-can-bite-my-butt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/infmom.net\/journal\/?p=214","title":{"rendered":"collection agencies can bite my butt."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have had many, many opportunities to be rude to bill collectors over the years.\u00c2\u00a0 Way too many, in my estimation.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/23380404@N06\/2244653304\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2121\/2244653304_7fb69d5950_m.jpg\" alt=\"leeches\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"6\" vspace=\"0\" \/><\/a><small><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/people\/jdawgd40\/\" title=\"jdawgd40\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/small><\/p>\n<p>And not once has a bill collector been calling for me (this household has never attracted the attention of bill collectors and as long as I have anything to say about it, it never will).\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s either one of my relatives or else it&#8217;s a wrong number.<\/p>\n<p>One of our phone lines is listed under a name that does not actually belong to anyone in the household (perfectly legal to do this, btw).\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s an initial and a last name with no address.\u00c2\u00a0 Funny how many people with that first initial and last name are deadbeats, and funny how the collection agencies go trolling through the phone book and insist the deadbeat gave them the number.\u00c2\u00a0 Yeah, and if I believe that they&#8217;ve got a great line of credit they can sell me.<\/p>\n<p>I just dealt with another one of those dirtbags and told her quite firmly that this number did not belong to anyone on her list and the calls had better stop, pronto.\u00c2\u00a0 But when I asked her how she got the number to begin with she said &#8220;Thank you&#8221; and hung up on me.\u00c2\u00a0 I think the debt collection act prohibits that kind of behavior.\u00c2\u00a0 I need to look it up.<\/p>\n<p>I certainly don&#8217;t mind being rude to a bill collector from time to time.\u00c2\u00a0 I just wish I had fewer opportunities to do so.<\/p>\n<p><small><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/infmom.net\/journal\/wp-content\/plugins\/photo_dropper\/images\/cc.gif\" alt=\"Creative Commons License\" border=\"0\" \/> photo credit: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/people\/jdawgd40\/\" title=\"jdawgd40\" target=\"_blank\">jdawgd40<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have had many, many opportunities to be rude to bill collectors over the years.\u00c2\u00a0 Way too many, in my estimation.
