{"id":220,"date":"2008-05-04T11:33:18","date_gmt":"2008-05-04T18:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/infmom.net\/journal\/?p=220"},"modified":"2017-08-13T09:59:13","modified_gmt":"2017-08-13T16:59:13","slug":"the-simple-life-for-me-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/infmom.net\/journal\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"the simple life for me!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, the battery on my trusty Palm Zire 31 is slowly giving up the ghost.<a title=\"Paper or Plastic?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8628862@N05\/2386535204\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 0pt none ; margin: 0px 6px; float: right;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3139\/2386535204_f259ae0d36_m.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Palm on palm\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<small><a title=\"mtsofan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/8628862@N05\/2386535204\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/small><br \/>\nI bought a new battery for it before I took it apart.  If I&#8217;d taken it apart first I would have seen that the battery leads are soldered in.  While I certainly have the skills to unsolder and resolder a battery, what I don&#8217;t have is any inclination to do it.  \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>So I guess it is time for me to think seriously about replacing the Zire before the battery bites the dust for good (I get about 30 minutes out of it now).  I want to stick with Palm, both for ease of use and for ease of data transfer.  I don&#8217;t need a lot of bells and whistles (as is evidenced by my long-time satisfaction with the Zire 31 and the fact that the Palm Centro is the only smartphone that has ever gotten a second look from me).  I&#8217;m sure there are PDA features that I don&#8217;t now have that I will love when I get them, but truthfully other than a larger screen I can&#8217;t think of any right now.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, I have the family budget to consider.
