My mother would have been 79 today.\u00c2\u00a0 She always told us she wouldn’t make it to 80 and we always told her she was being silly.\u00c2\u00a0 I guess she got the last laugh.<\/p>\n

This poem always reminded me of her.\u00c2\u00a0 Don’t take it literally; Millay was referring to the Greek version of “hell,” not the Christian one.<\/p>\n
